Landscapes and Views of Taormina

The departure for our mountain bike Taormina tour will be from our headquarters in Giardini Naxos. We will take care to set up the bikes according to your sizes and needs and after the initial briefing, we will start the ride towards Mount Venere.

The tour starts from Giardini Naxos, after a few kilometers of asphalted roads we will ride along the river Santa Venera by country roads with mixed ground, dirt, asphalt, that is quite simple from the technical point of view.

That route is a long climb with average gradients between 5% and 7%, interrupted by some very short downhills, will take us at about 16 kilometers at 780 meters above sea level.

You can hardly find from any other place the panorama, which you will admire on that climb! In fact, that’s the only place from where you can see at the same time Castelmola, Taormina, the bay of Giardini Naxos and magnificent Etna heading Southeast and the Northern coast of Ionian sea, Mount Kalfa, the ridges of Nebrodi and Peloritani Mounts heading Northeast.

After taking pictures of the landscape, we will ride down to the medieval village of Castelmola, where we visit the historic center and have a coffee break. At last, we visit the former convent of Madonna Della Rocca, built about 400 years ago, with its church carved into the rock, overlooking the historic center of Taormina.

We return to the base by the asphalt, through the center of Taormina, riding over the town public park and the former fortress of Cape Taormina.
